Pacemaker Implantation for the Cardiologist Course Description: An advanced electrophysiology program featuring didactic and proctored hands on cases. Students will learn how to successfully identify appropriate patients for pacemaker therapy and gain experience with the insertion, management, and follow-up of pacemakers. Satisfactory completion results in a certificate of cases to be applied to the case requirements of the ACC/HRS. Students will receive protocols, equipment lists, and physician dictation of cases included during course. Location: Cardiovascular Associates & Holston Valley Medical Center Tuition: $5,000 ICD Implantation for the Non-Electrophysiology Cardiologist or Surgeon Course Description: An advanced electrophysiology program featuring didactic and proctored hands on cases. Students will learn how to successfully identify appropriate patients for ICD therapy, how to implant ICD devices, and understand basic techniques for interrogation, programming, and surveillance of ICDs. Didactic content on patient selection, preparation, post implant recovery, and patient education will be provided. Cases will count toward competency requirements of the ACC/HRS. Students will receive protocols, equipment lists, and physician dictation of cases included during course. Students will receive the latest pharmaceutical protocols, state-of-the-art mapping, ablation, pacing, and surgical therapies as well as training on how to best manage follow-up visits. Students will receive protocols, equipment lists, and physician dictation of cases included during course. Participants will learn selection criteria for extraction sheaths, extraction techniques, and the appropriate tools for lead extraction. Students will be exposed to case studies to ensure competence in lead extraction technique and equipment selection. Students will receive protocols, equipment lists, and physician dictation of cases included during course. Location: Cardiovascular Associates Tuition: $1,500 Developing a Comprehensive EP Device Follow-up Clinic Course Description: This course is designed for practice administrators, NP’s/Pa’s, RN’s and technical staff who will be involved in the initial set up and maintenance of a pacemaker/ICD device follow up clinic. The training program will explore the advantages of having a device follow up clinic as well as new technologies designed to aid in this undertaking. In addition, time will be devoted to staffing, equipment requirements, billing, scheduling and development of follow up protocols. Course attendees will attain a basic knowledge of the requirements for a successful in-office as well as remote device follow up clinic. Course Length: Two day course Enrollment: 3 students per course Faculty: Janet Ford, MSN, APRN-BC, Certified Device Specialist Target Audience: Non-physician practitioners and administrators seeking to develop a successful device follow-up clinic. Location: Cardiovascular Associates electrophysiology clinic Tuition: $5,000 Advanced Imaging- CT Angiography for Electrophysiology Planning Course Description: A high volume, CT angiography course featuring didactic and proctored hands on cases related specifically to electrophysiology mapping and planning for atrial fibrillation ablation procedures and bi ventricular pacemaker implants. Satisfactory completion results in a certificate of cases that can be applied to case requirements of the ACCF/AHA (50 performed cases and 150 interpreted cases). Students will receive protocols, equipment lists, and physician dictation of cases included during course.
