Basic Endovascular Training for Cardiovascular Surgeons Course Description: This course
provides didactic content on interpretation of non-invasive vascular
diagnostic tests. The student will also experience hands on training
for the use of wires, sheath, catheters, stents, balloon angioplasty,
atherectomy, and thrombolysis to develop basic skills in non-coronary
vascular beds. Satisfactory completion results in a certificate of
cases to be applied toward the 100 diagnostic and 50 therapeutic
endovascular procedures as required by the ACC/ACP/SCAI/ SVMB/ SVS. Enrollment: 3 student maximum per course Faculty: D. Christopher Metzger, MD, FACC, D. Tyler Greenfield, MD, FACS Target Audience: Cardiovascular surgeons seeking basic endovascular skill acquisition which will apply toward joint society competency standards for angiography and procedures. didactic and hands on endovascular fellowship training for
cardiovascular surgeons. Hands on training for the use of wires,
sheath, catheters, stents, balloon angioplasty, atherectomy, and
thrombolysis to develop skills in non-coronary vascular beds. Upon
completion, fellows will have acquired approximately 100 angiograms and
approximately 50 therapeutic endovascular interventions as required by
the ACC/ACP/SCAI/ SVMB/ SVS. Enrollment: 1 fellow per course Faculty: D. Christopher Metzger, MD, FACC, D. Tyler Greenfield, MD, FACS Target Audience: Cardiovascular surgeons seeking diagnostic and interventional endovascular skill acquisition.
